DOES ANY OF THIS STRIKE A NERVE?

You’re Clinically Trained.
But Not in Skin.

You completed your nursing degree. You understand patient safety, clinical responsibility, wound care, and pharmacology. You’re a registered health professional.

But when you step into an aesthetic clinic, you realise something is missing.

Skin anatomy and physiology were not covered in depth in your training. Neither were the cellular mechanisms behind ageing, pigmentation, inflammation, or barrier function. You weren’t taught how to assess skin conditions at a clinical level, how to select and sequence treatment modalities based on evidence, or how to manage the tissue response to energy-based devices.

This isn’t a gap in your ability. It’s a gap in your education.

And it’s the same gap that every nurse entering aesthetics faces.

The Options Available Don’t Serve You

The current education landscape for nurses entering aesthetics falls into four categories, and none of them are designed for where you are right now:

Medical and Dermatologist-Led Programs
Designed for doctors. Priced for doctors. The content assumes a medical degree and existing dermatological knowledge. Valuable, but not built for a nursing entry point.

Premium CPD and Conference Programs
High-quality but designed for practitioners already working in aesthetics. They assume foundational knowledge that many nurses haven’t yet had the opportunity to develop.

Dermal Therapy and Device Training
Treatment-first. You learn to operate a device, but not why it works, when it’s contraindicated, or how to assess the skin presenting in front of you. Technique without clinical context.

Beauty-Level Education
Surface-level anatomy, product-focused, no clinical depth. It doesn’t respect your clinical background and won’t prepare you for the complexity of aesthetic practice.

What’s missing is a structured, clinically grounded program that starts where your nursing degree ends — and builds the skin science foundation that aesthetic practice demands.

Clinical Skin Foundations for Aesthetic Nurses

This course is the bridging program that nursing degrees don’t provide.

It delivers the structured, evidence-based skin science education you need to practise confidently, safely, and competently in an aesthetic clinical environment. It covers everything from the cellular and molecular biology of the skin through to clinical assessment, skin conditions, wound healing, and the mechanisms behind every major treatment modality used in clinic.

This is not a device course. It’s not beauty training. It’s clinical education designed to build the knowledge base that supports every clinical decision you’ll make in aesthetic practice.

What the Course

Covers

MODULES 1-7

Foundations of Skin Science

Build a deep understanding of the integumentary system. From skin structure and barrier function through to cellular biology, inflammation, collagen and elastin physiology, and wound healing. This section ensures you can apply skin anatomy and physiology directly to treatment planning and patient safety.

MODULES 8-13

Skin Conditions and Clinical Practice

Master the pathophysiology, clinical assessment, and evidence-based treatment strategies for the conditions you’ll see most frequently in clinic: acne, rosacea, pigmentation disorders, dry skin conditions, scarring, and ageing skin. You’ll also develop your clinical consultation and multi-layered skin analysis skills.

MODULES 14-25

Clinical Modalities and Cosmetic Chemistry

Gain technical expertise across all major aesthetic treatment technologies — chemical peels, BBL/IPL, Q-switched lasers, RF needling, microneedling, HIFU, ablative and non-ablative lasers, and LED therapy. Plus a grounding in cosmetic chemistry, key clinical ingredients, and adverse event management.

Who This Course Is For

This course is designed for registered nurses who are:

  • Entering or considering a move into aesthetic clinical practice
  • Working in aesthetics but recognising gaps in their foundational skin science knowledge
  • Looking to build clinical confidence before progressing to advanced or device-specific training
  • Committed to evidence-based, safety-first clinical practice

You don’t need prior aesthetic experience. You need your nursing registration and a commitment to learning at a clinical level.

Who This Is Not For

This course is not designed for beauty therapists, non-clinical practitioners, or anyone seeking device certification or hands-on treatment training. It is a knowledge-based education program, not a practical training course.

Meet Jodie King

Jodie King is a senior Dermal Clinician with extensive experience across both aesthetic clinical practice and education.

She built this course because she saw the same pattern playing out in clinics across Australia: nurses arriving with strong clinical foundations but without the skin science knowledge that aesthetic practice demands. Existing education either assumed too much, delivered too little, or wasn’t designed for nurses at all.

Clinical Skin Foundations is the program Jodie wished existed when she made the transition herself — structured, evidence-based, clinically grounded, and built specifically for the nursing entry point into aesthetics.

How It Works

Self-Paced Online Learning
Access the full course through your personal learning portal. Work through modules at your own pace, on your own schedule.

Structured Curriculum
25 modules delivered across three sections, building progressively from foundational skin science through to clinical conditions and treatment modalities.

Assessment at Every Stage
Each module concludes with a quiz comprising multiple-choice and short-answer questions. You must complete each assessment before progressing to the next module, ensuring you’ve developed an appropriate understanding of the material.

Comprehensive Training Workbook
A detailed course workbook accompanies every module, providing clinical reference material you’ll use throughout the course and in practice.

What Makes This Different

Built for Nurses, Not Adapted for Nurses
Every module, assessment, and resource was designed from the ground up for registered nurses. This isn’t a dermatology course scaled down or a beauty course scaled up.

Clinically Grounded, Evidence-Based
The curriculum is built on current evidence and clinical best practice. You’ll learn the why behind every mechanism, condition, and treatment — not just the what.

Competency Before Confidence
Confidence in clinical practice comes from competency, not enthusiasm. This course builds the knowledge base that supports safe, informed clinical decisions.

Created by Someone Who’s Been Where You Are
Jodie understands the transition from nursing into aesthetics because she’s made it. This course exists because the education she needed didn’t.
